Gertrude’s @ DBG

Gertrude’s will offer the Desert Botanical Garden members, patrons, and general public a fresh new food experience. The restaurant’s namesake, Mrs. Gertrude Divine Webster, an environmentalist ahead of her time, founded the Desert Botanical Garden in 1939. Mrs. Webster, in conjunction with a small group of Valley citizens, gathered in Papago Park to create a botanical garden to educate, understand, appreciate, and promote the uniqueness of the Sonoran Desert. Mrs. Webster foresaw the potential to create a distinctive identity for the Phoenix area by envisioning the need to conserve the beautiful desert.

Gertrude’s will focus on bringing the best Arizona has to offer by utilizing fresh ingredients directly from the farm and pasture to the plate. The menu will showcase local ingredients from artisans and farmers around Arizona and the Southwest.

Open for brunch, lunch, dinner, and happy hour, guests will experience Chef Stephen K. Eldridge’s ‘Living Desert Cuisine’ and focus on a total visceral experience for the guests with cuisine, wine, and overall garden ambience. A full complement of highly rated beer, wine, and spirits will meld perfectly with the cuisine. And as an added feature, Gertrude’s will be sourcing fresh herbs and vegetables from their own garden located on property at the Desert Botanical Garden.

“Gertrude’s will be a special place for all.” – Chef Stephen K. Eldridge
